Having fun with the letter M!

We have been celebrating a letter each week. To celebrate the letter 'M' we made muffins. The children voted on whether we should make blueberry or chocolate chip muffins. We ended up making both. Yummy!!

While the muffins were baking we enjoyed reading "If You Give A Moose A Muffin".

Backyard Birds

Some of the children have been interested in learning more about birds. This afternoon, many children decided to try and create miniature birds out of plasticine. I was so impressed with their effort and skill!

Measuring Mass

We have been learning about mass. In kindergarten, we learn how to use a balance scale and we talk about which objects are heavier, lighter or weigh the same.

The Missing Number

The children have been enjoying entering into a missing number competition. During activity time, each child has the opportunity to figure out the missing number and write the number down (and his or her name) on a slip of paper. At the end of the day, every child that enters wins a small prize (e.g., a couple of letter pretzels). The children love this activity. It's a great way for them to practise printing numbers and it gives them an opportunity to practise self-regulation as they need to remember to do this job at some point during their day. We do a similar activity where the children have to guess how many items there are in a jar and write down their estimate.

We give the children a choice as to which missing number they would like to write down. The "green" numbers are the challenge. By the end of Kindergarten students are expected to know the numbers 1-10.

Snow White

 We had a wonderful time at Snow White! We want to thank all of the parent and grandparent volunteers who made our trip possible. The children have enjoyed putting on some of their own plays in our Drama center.

The Letter 'J'!

To celebrate the letter J, we enjoyed some jello! 

Drama Centre

As we're reading our fairy tales, we talk about the characters in the story. The children have enjoyed acting out some fairy tales of their own in our Dramatic play centre. Ask your child which costume is his or her favourite.

Remembrance Day

We went to a beautiful Remembrance Day assembly today. The children listened to poems, songs and videos about peace. It was truly moving and the students were very respectful.
