Earth Day

To celebrate Earth Day, we read Dr.Seuss' The Lorax. Afterwards, the children created beautiful 'stained glass' Earths. They made a beautiful display in our window! This project has sparked an interest in planets, so next week we will be learning more about a variety of planets.

Between our 'Making Cookies' poem and action for the 'er' sound, we were very hungry for cookies. The children worked together to bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies.

Spatial Puzzles

We are working on our spatial sense and our ability to use positional words by trying to recreate scenes in our sandbox. There are copies of the following pictures in our sandbox and the children try to build these scenes together.

Weather and Temperature

As it slowly warms up, we have been learning about temperature and weather. Together we are creating a book called '20 Days of Weather'. Each and every school day, we record the temperature outside and then take turns writing about it in our book.

We have been reading "The Golden Egg Book" by Margaret Wise Brown. We talked about the main characters, setting and problem. The children enjoyed retelling the story for us. They did a great job creating a mural for our setting.

Mealworms - we're watching a life cycle

We are watching very closely as our Mealworms grow. We are looking forward to watching them develop into Darkling Beetles. The children noticed that they are shedding their skin as they grow.
