Our Integrity Assembly
At Lexington, we have a "whole school" assembly in the gym each month. Each assembly focuses on one of the board's eight 'Character Development' attributes.
On Wednesday, March 5th, our class will be singing a song about Integrity. As a class, we have been defining integrity as "doing the right thing when nobody is looking". We have been practising singing the song below with Mrs. Dunbar's grade 5/6 class. On Wednesday, March 5th you are invited to come and see your child perform in the gym at 9:30 a.m. After the performance, we invite you to come down to our room to say hello to your child.

Small Group Reading
Reading in a small group is an important part of our program. It allows us to tailor our lessons for each child. In this particular lesson, we were tracking the words as we read the story together. When we were finished the book, we looked for all of the sight words that we have learned so far this year.

Bey Blades
The children in our class have been very interested in making Bey Blades out of snap cubes. To extend their learning, we created some instructions on "How To Make A Bey Blade" together. This provided the children with opportunities to communicate by talking, listening and following step-by-step instructions. Please see some of their amazing Bey Blades below!
Magic Milk!
As a wholegroup experience, we did a neat colour mixing experiment to extend the learning that was happening at our science table. To do our experiment we filled a saucer with cream and dropped several drops of food colouring in the cream. We then used a toothpick to let dish soap run down the side of the saucer into the milk. The result was amazing! Ask your child what happened!
Outdoor Creation!
Art happens everywhere! Some of our children were enjoying using natural materials to create unique masterpieces.
Coffee Shop
The children have been enjoying serving up some coffee and hot chocolate for their friends and teachers. At this centre, the children have been recognizing some familiar labels, for example, Tim Hortons and Starbucks. We have added coins to this centre and the children are sorting the coins and having lots of great discussions about how much money items cost.
Our Snowmen
On Friday we went outside and made snowmen. We are hoping to make some predictions and observations as the weather changes. With the current forecast, it looks like we will be able to enjoy our creations for a long time!
Colour Mixing
We have been busy scientists! The children have been enthusiastically creating new colours at our science colour mixing table.
Our Aquarium
We have a new aquarium in our room! The children were interested in getting a classroom pet and we finally decided on fish and two African Dwarf Frogs. In addition to being fun to watch, our new pets are teaching the children about the needs of living things and responsible pet ownership.
